Madonna, 64, Fires Back After She’s Slammed For How She Looks At Grammys

Madonna made an appearance at the Grammys last weekend, and many thought she looked different than she usually does.

The pop star Madonna is firing back at her haters after the 64 year-old “Like A Vi” singer was hit with backlash for the way she looked at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Madonna Sounds Off
Entertainment Tonight reported that Madonna took to Instagram to share some footage of the fun night out that she had at the awards show, which took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. Madonna first used the caption to talk about how honored she was to get to introduce Petras and Smith at the show.

“It was an honor for me to Introduce. Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the GRAMMYs,” she wrote. “I wanted to give the last award which was Album of the Year, but I thought it was more important that I present the first trans- woman performing at the GRAMMYs— a History making moment!! And on top of that she won a Grammy!! ♥️.”

That’s when Madonna shifted to sending a message to her haters, however.

“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!” she said.

“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in,” Madonna added. “A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”

Madonna Doubles Down
Not stopping there, Madonna proceeded to go even further in defending her appearance.

“I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start,” she stated. “I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come. In the words of Beyoncé, ‘You-won’t break my soul.’”

Madonna ended her post by letting her haters know that she won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

“I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior -pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy -and Most of all enjoying my life,” she concluded.

Madonna Attacked Online
Daily Mail reported that this came after Madonna’s physical appearance at the Grammys was widely panned on social media.

“My gawd what has @Madonna done to herself? #GRAMMYs,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “So, I am just now watching the #GRAMMYs. Madonna doesn’t quite look like @Madonna to me.”

“Madonna needs to stop with the plastic and embrace the aging process. She’s nearly unrecognizable at this point,” a third user wrote, with a fourth adding, “Madonna sorta looks like that singer that sang ‘Vogue’ and other songs.”

This also comes after Madonna announced that she will be going on a massive tour later this year, which could be partly why negative comments about her appearance are hitting such a nerve with her. While we’re never in favor of online attacks on the way someone look, perhaps Madonna should ease up on the plastic if she doesn’t want this to happen again in the future!
