Owner Surrenders Two Elderly Dogs To High Kill Shelter—Almost As They’ve Given Up They Find Home Together

Bella and Snowball were two elderly dogs who had lived in the same home. Their former owner took them to an animal shelter. During their time in the animal shelter, the two remained companions until the impossible happened, and both dogs were adopted into the same home.

Like many dogs, Snowball and Bella formed a friendship after living together with the same human companion. Bella, a large golden retriever, became an older sibling to Snowball, a small white dog. This arrangement provided Bella with someone to nurture and blind Snowball with much-needed help to navigate the world.

This duo was enjoying life until their owner took them to an animal shelter. Confined to a kennel, the two didn’t seem to have much chance of ever seeing the light of day again. The shelter they were taken to would euthanize animals who weren’t quickly adopted, and most families leave with puppies or other young dogs. As they sat behind bars, Bella looked depressed. A few nudges from Snowball’s nose would revive her, but life wasn’t what it once was. Even more tragically, it looked like the two would spend their final days confined together.

While puppies jumped and barked their way into visitors’ hearts and homes, the pair sat quietly with one another. Their existence seemed bleak until they caught the attention of a few visitors. After spending some time with the dogs, these people decided to adopt them.

For these two elderly shelter dogs, adoption itself was miraculous, but the biggest surprise was when the couple decided to take both dogs. This was a double miracle for Snowball since special needs dogs can often be more challenging to place. Bella and Snowball were soon on their way to their new home together!

In what could have easily been the day they bid farewell to the world, this adorable pair spent a few moments saying “goodbye” to shelter life. In typical dog fashion, they enjoyed one last walk around the grounds sniffing everything in sight. It was time to put shelter life in the past and look forward to their new home. Although the people and place may be different, this loveable pair was in the car anticipating home life.

Perhaps you’ve been lucky enough to share your home with a former shelter pet. Take a few moments and warm everyone’s heart with your furry love story here or at another social media site!
