People called the poor dog ‘werewolf’ because they simply didn’t know what kind of animal he was

In Madera Ranchos, California, a bizarre creature that resembled a “werewolf” stood on the side of the road close to an orchard. Everyone was afraid to even look at him because he had a mangy patch of fur, was underweight, and was balding.

No one wanted to approach the miserable animal for months because of its hard, scaly skin and damaged, sharp tail. His neck and head still had the only remaining black fur.

People would ignore him when passing by because they assumed he was dangerous and that he was obviously ill.

Fortunately, an angel in human form decided one day that this puppy was worth her time. After stopping to see how the poor dog was doing, the woman decided to phone for assistance.

The call was then answered by Megan Bowe, another compassionate woman. Bowe’s Adoptable Rescued Pup founder Megan admitted, “I was about ready to cry when I saw how bad off he was. He was really on his last leg. He was depressed and could barely even stand up.”

Megan soon realized what this ‘werewolf’ was in fact a very sick and neglected German shepherd mix. She named him King and immediately took him to a vet’s clinic.

King had a great deal of illnesses, but Meghan and the physicians chose to treat each one at the time. His most serious health issues required surgery, including his scabies, damaged pelvis, and broken tail.

“My vet thinks he got hit by a car, and that would explain how his tail was so messed up, too,” Megan said. “That injury happened months ago, because by the time I got him it had already started to heal incorrectly. And with such a damaged pelvis, he wasn’t able to get around very far on his own to look for food so he was extremely skinny and dehydrated.”

King’s health condition made him look old, but in fact, he was only a year of age. Because of his diseases, some of which were contagious, Megan needed to place him at a separate section of the place where she kept the rest of the animals she took care of.

Luckily, King started eating and he was getting a bigger portion every day.

As his condition gradually got better, King was ready to undergo the much needed surgery for his broken pelvis and tail.

And the operations were successful!

Megan believes that King will soon be able to be placed up for adoption. It took him some time to be able to walk again, but with Megan and the vets’ assistance, he accomplished the unthinkable and stood on his feet again. All she wants is for him to be welcomed into a loving family and given a place to call home.

“It’s hard to think that all those cars passed him by and never stopped. No one wanted to bring him home or help him because he looked so bad… But all it took was one person,” Megan said.

It is because of people like the woman who called for help, and Megan, who was ready to step in, that this world becomes a much better place.
