Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, tragically passed away in a targeted shooting outside the New York Hilton on December 4, 2024. The 50-year-old executive was on his way to an investor conference when a gunman approached him from behind and fired multiple shots.

Despite receiving immediate medical care, Brian was declared dead at Mount Sinai West. The assailant fled the scene, initially on foot and then on a rental bike. Authorities have confirmed Brian had received threats before the incident, though the details remain unclear.

His wife, Paulette, shared her deep sorrow, remembering Brian as a loving father and a generous leader who made a lasting impact on those around him. Brian, who lived in Minnesota with Paulette and their two sons, had been with UnitedHealth Group since 2004.
