I went into the garage just to grab an old toolbox!

The morning began with a simple errand—retrieving an old toolbox from the garage. Normally that space belonged to a husband who managed its order, while it felt unfamiliar and dim to anyone else. The flickering lightbulb added to the neglected atmosphere, making visits rare.

Yet something urged a step inside that day. Walking past stacked boxes and dusty shelves, the eyes were drawn to the far corner, where an old cabinet stood, long used to store paint cans and broken tools. Behind it, something strange seemed to be hiding.

At first glance, the object looked large and misshapen, cloaked in a thick gray-white layer that resembled years of dust. It blended with the shadows so well that it almost seemed part of the garage itself. But then a faint, disturbing movement betrayed it.

The twitching wasn’t a shift of the whole form but subtle flickers, enough to send a chill through the body. A feeling of dread crept in, making the hairs along the neck rise as stillness filled the space. For a long moment, nothing else happened.

Caution gave way to curiosity, and a step forward followed. The air grew noticeably colder, as though the corner itself exhaled frost into the room. That unnatural drop in temperature deepened the unease, urging hesitation even as the pull to look closer grew stronger.

The figure remained covered, its true shape uncertain. Each subtle movement beneath the dusty film seemed both alive and alien, as though something had been waiting, hidden for years.

A sense of wrongness pressed harder with each second, tightening in the stomach and quickening the heart. The garage, once merely cluttered and dim, now felt like a place transformed, carrying a secret meant to stay buried.

What stood in that corner was no forgotten object. It was something else entirely, and its discovery was only beginning.
