Won a Grammy and took a jab at President Trump: Shakira didn’t hold back with her comments

After receiving the award, the Colombian singer used the platform to discuss the current state of affairs in the United States.

On March 22, 2024, Colombian singer Shakira’s 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, was released.

Eight new songs, a remix, and seven previously released hit singles, such as Music Sessions Vol. 53 with Bizarrap and TQG with Karol G, make up this album, which is her first studio release in seven years.

The album has received 3.7 billion Spotify plays to date. Shakira called the creative process “alchemical” during the promotion, claiming that she was able to change her feelings through songwriting and singing, transforming vulnerability into strength and tears into “diamonds.”

She was obviously overjoyed when she took the stage in Los Angeles after winning a Grammy.

But she set aside her own achievements to talk about a significant issue facing the United States since President Trump took office: the plight of immigrants, especially those he intends to deport.

“I would like to dedicate this award to all of my fellow immigrants in this nation.” You are cherished. Shakira publicly endorsed the nation’s immigration policies, saying, “You matter, and I will always stand with you.”

However, it’s possible that Shakira forgot that the president has nothing against legal immigrants and is only targeting illegal ones.

She then took a moment to thank her two sons, who were proudly watching from the audience, before concluding her speech: “I am so proud of you for your kind hearts.” I am so grateful for your unwavering support. Thank you, and I love you.

In their first on-stage appearance since their 2020 Super Bowl performance, Jennifer Lopez gave Shakira the coveted award.
