These things show up in my toilet after it rains. Any idea what they are?

After the storm, the toilet looked like something out of a nightmare. Brown, wriggling shapes floated in the bowl, moving just enough to make it feel unreal. Panic set in immediately, with fears of parasites, sewer creatures, or something dangerous coming up through the pipes.

But a closer look revealed a very different truth. They weren’t worms or parasites at all—they were tadpoles, an early stage in a frog’s life cycle. Heavy rain likely created the right conditions for frogs to enter through open windows, vents, or drains and lay eggs in standing water. What seemed frightening was actually a small, accidental ecosystem forming indoors.

Once the situation became clear, the fear shifted into responsibility. The tadpoles were carefully removed and released into a nearby pond where they could survive and continue developing naturally.

Simple steps like keeping drains covered and bathroom openings sealed during heavy rain can help prevent it from happening again. In the end, what first looked disturbing was just nature behaving in an unexpected place.READ MORE BELOW
